One Flaw in Women

(this was sent to me by a friend.)

By the time the Lord made woman,
He was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said,
“Why are you spending so much time on this one?”
And the Lord answered,
“Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
have a lap that can hold four children at one time,
have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped
knee to a broken heart
-and she will do everything
with only two hands.”
The angel was astounded at the requirements.
“Only two hands!? No way!
And that’s just on the standard model?
That’s too much work for one day.
Wait until tomorrow to finish.”
”But I won’t,” the Lord protested.
“I am so close to finishing this creation
that is so close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick
AND can work 18 hour days.”
The angel moved closer and touched the woman.
“But you have made her so soft, Lord.”
”She is soft,” the Lord agreed,
“but I have also made her tough.
You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.”
”Will she be able to think?”, asked the angel.
The Lord replied, “Not only will she be able to think,
she will be able to reason and negotiate.”
The angel then noticed something,
and reaching out, touched the woman’s cheek.
“Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.”
”That’s not a leak,” the Lord corrected,
“that’s a tear!”
“What’s the tear for?” the angel asked.
The Lord said, “The tear is her way of expressing her joy,
her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love,
her loneliness, her grief and her pride.”
The angel was impressed. “You are a genius, Lord.
You thought of everything!
Woman is truly amazing.”
And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness,
love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don’t take “no” for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They’ll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

My apologies!!!

Oops, I made a really big mistake last night. I should have set my post, (the one right below this one on Chris Daughtry) to post a couple of hours after I wrote it. Isabelle droped by last night moments after I gave the American Idol results. American Idol had not aired on the west coast yet. I checked my stats and Isabelle is the only person who stopped by this page between 9 and 11:59. Here is my apology.

Isabelle I am so sorry. Please forgive me. I will not let that happen again.

Chris Daughtry is out!

I did not see that one coming. Thanks America! now I have to change the sheets on my bed. I spewed my drink all over it….Dang it!

I did not want to see anyone go home but I thought it was going to be Katharine. I am so glad I am not a betting woman because I would have lost a heap of cash tonight.

Chris Daughtry, I am so sorry you will not be continuing on. I thought for sure you were going to be there until the end. Good Luck and keep on singing.

Anyone notice that Taylor Hicks and Elliot Yamin were in the top two?

The Monster and the weak

There are certain blogs that I read on a regular basis. One of those blogs is Cursed by a Classical Education. I ran across a poem on that blog this morning. I would like to share it with you today. I have copied and pasted the poem because I couldn’t figure out how to find the link to just the poem. I hope Major Dad 1984 doesn’t mind.

The Monsters and The Weak

The sun beat like a hammer, not a cloud was in the sky.
The mid-day air ran thick with dust, my throat was parched and dry.
With microphone clutched tight in hand and cameraman in tow,
I ducked beneath a fallen roof, surprised to hear “stay low.”

My eyes blinked several times before in shadow I could see,
The figure stretched across the rubble, steps away from me.
He wore a cloak of burlap strips, all shades of grey and brown,
That hung in tatters till he seemed to melt into the ground.

He never turned his head or took his eye from off the scope,
But pointed through the broken wall and down the rocky slope.
“About eight hundred yards,” he said, his whispered words concise,
“beneath the baggy jacket he is wearing a device.”

A chill ran up my spine despite the swelter of the heat, “You think he’s gonna set it off along the crowded street?” The sniper gave a weary sigh and said “I wouldn’t doubt it,” “unless there’s something this old gun and I can do about it.”

A thunderclap, a tongue of flame, the still abruptly shattered;
While citizens that walked the street were just as quickly scattered.
Till only one remained, a body crumpled on the ground,
The threat to oh so many ended by a single round.

And yet the sniper had no cheer, no hint of any gloat,
Instead he pulled a logbook out and quietly he wrote.
“Hey, I could put you on TV, that shot was quite a story!”
But he surprised me once again — “I got no wish for glory.”

“Are you for real?” I asked in awe, “You don’t want fame or credit?”
He looked at me with saddened eyes and said “you just don’t get it.”
“You see that shot-up length of wall, the one without a door?
Before a mortar hit, it used to be a grocery store.”

“But don’t go thinking that to bomb a store is all that cruel,
The rubble just across the street — it used to be a school.
The little kids played soccer in the field out by the road,”
His head hung low, “They never thought a car would just explode.”

“As bad as all this is though, it could be a whole lot worse,”
He swallowed hard, the words came from his mouth just like a curse.
“Today the fight’s on foreign land, on streets that aren’t my own,”
“I’m here today ’cause if I fail, the next fight’s back at home.”

“And I won’t let my Safeway burn, my neighbors dead inside,
Don’t wanna get a call from school that says my daughter died;
I pray that not a one of them will know the things I see,
Nor have the work of terrorists etched in their memory.”

“So you can keep your trophies and your fleeting bit of fame,
I don’t care if I make the news, or if they speak my name.”
He glanced toward the camera and his brow began to knot,
“If you’re looking for a story, why not give this one a shot.”

“Just tell the truth of what you see, without the slant or spin;
That most of us are OK and we’re coming home again.
And why not tell our folks back home about the good we’ve done,
How when they see Americans, the kids come at a run.”

You tell ’em what it means to folks here just to speak their mind,
Without the fear that tyranny is just a step behind;
Describe the desert miles they walk in their first chance to vote,
Or ask a soldier if he’s proud, I’m sure you’ll get a quote.”

He turned and slid the rifle in a drag bag thickly padded,
Then looked again with eyes of steel as quietly he added;
“And maybe just remind the few, if ill of us they speak,
That we are all that stands between the monsters and the weak.”

I think it’s hormonal

Women have been known to exhibit odd behaviors during specific times of the month. I am no different. Although my odd behavior is not getting moody or eating chocolate. My odd behavior is watching music videos. I can’t explain it but a couple days a month all I want to do is watch country music videos. I sit for hours with my headphones on my head. I watch video, after video. I don’t eat. I don’t sleep. I don’t do any housework.

What Tarot card are you?

You Are The Empress
You represent the ideal female figure: beauty and nurturing.
You bring security and harmony to many.
At times, you are also a very sensual person.
You are characterized by love, pleasure, and desire.

Your fortune:

You need to take some time to think about the role of commitment in your life.
It’s possible you need to commit more to others, or deal with how others have treated you.
It is very important for you to support your friends and family right now, difficult as it may be.
You may need to look at your relationship with your mother, or your relationships as a mother.

Darryl Worley

I just watched Darryl Worley’s new video “Nothin’ but a love thang”…oh my gosh.. he sure has let his hair grow long. He’s starting to remind me of one of those Harlequin Romance novel male models. (The books are on display at the end of the aisles in every grocery store across the country.) I think I like Darryl better with short hair. I did like the video, it was very sexy indeed.

Blog Surfing

I like to blogsurf and if given the choice to blogsurf or do the dishes I would choose blogsurfing. The first thing I do in the mornings is make coffee and check my emails. After reading all the relevant material and deleting those emails we all delete I set out to blogsurf. I usually blog surf 30 minutes to an hour and then wake my children up for school. Blogsurfing is how I meet new and interesting people.

Most of the people who arrive at my blogs arrive because I accidently came across their site and found something interesting to read so I left a message. A few people find me by accident too. The internet makes the world a little smaller and sometimes even friendlier <--is that a real word? There is a ton of interesting people on the internet. I like meeting people.

My daughter wants to be a writer like her Mom

My Morgan is 6 years old. She is very creative and has recently decided she wants to be a writer like her Mom. So today I share Morgan’s first book. Morgan drew the pictures and I helped with the writing. Of course, this writing occured as I was trying to watch American Idol last night on TV. This story makes me giggle because Morgan doesn’t realize that ladybugs can’t have butterflies. : ) It’s her story and she has creative license to write the story any way she wants.
page 1

Once upon a time there was a lady bug named pokadot and there was a very nice spider.

Then the ladybug said “Hi” and the ladybug and the spider talked all night.

page 2

At night the ladybug laid eggs and then the ladybug said “goodnight” and the spider said “Goodnight”

The eggs laid there until morning until they hatched. Some of them were hatched and some of them were not.

Unitl the last one hatched we didn’t know if they were butterflies or ladybugs. We don’t know until tomorrow. We will see.

page 3

Some of the eggs hatched from dusk til dawn. Until there were 19 eggs left. Some of them hatched.

page 4

and then the last egg hatched and now we know all of the eggs were butterflies.

The End

Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe

Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe

The cuteness grossness of it all. The Discovery channel’s “Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe” is so very entertaining. This is a great show. Dirty Jobs is one of the most entertaining TV shows that I have seen in a long time.
On this show Mike Rowe gives us an upclose and personal look at dirty jobs from around the country. Mike brings a lot of humor and mishap to the show. I have been grossed out on more than one occassion. This show makes me laugh. I like to laugh.

330 Podcasts and counting

Everybody say woot!!!!!! I have fnished podcasting all 330 of the current journal and diary entries of Madie’s Bear Tribe Journals from books 1 and 2. It has taken months but it is finally done.

I know you’re thinking “what is the big deal? You write one journal entry at a time.” Well folks, I didn’t decide to podcast Madie’s Bear Tribe Journals until I had already finished writing book 1 and had started with book 2. I had to go back two years. And another thing, my grammar and vocabulary usage can be extremely complicated. There are some words that just shouldn’t be next to each other. : ) Too bad I didn’t save any of the outtakes. I’m surprised my tongue is still working.
Enjoy.

aaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

That darn server….The thing was down for two hours. The stress…I can’t take the stress. I couldn’t check my email. I couldn’t read my own websites. I’m certain my blood pressure went thru the roof. I probably missed that one opportunity that comes along only once in a lifetime. The “Opportunity for fame” when someone of importance stops by your website and declares you are the “Greatest Blogger Ever“.

The Need

Have you ever gotten the need to do something. Somthing you just can’t put off any longer? This sort of thing happened to me the day before yesterday. I was in my bedroom. Next to my TV is a big blue plastic tub. In this tub I keep family photos. I opened the tub and looked at the photos. I estimated there were probably 3 or 4 hundred photos not in photo albums so I went to Walmart and bought 3 one hundred page photo albums to put my photos in.

I sat for hours separating the photos by location and by child. At the end of the day I had filled the three photo albums. I looked in the big blue tub it was a bottomless pit of loose pictures. I needed more photo albums. Out of desperation(and a little OCD) I went back to walmart and bought 5 more photo albums. Yesterday I sat and sat and filled photo albums. I couldn’t stop. I had to finish the task. I am so thankful we stopped taking pictures a couple of years ago because if we hadn’t I would still be filling photo albums today.

A day for Dress Up

I have been websurfing this evening. It’s what i do to wind down from a long day at work. Any way, I was at “Come Share My life”

Prachi was sharing pictures of her office co-workers. They all came to work in their Sarees. Go take a look. All the ladies in the office are beautiful.

I have lived a lot of different places because my husband is in the military. I have always enjoyed seeing and watching people in native dress. The internet has made it possible to see people from around the world without having to travel to a foreign country.

My most favorite place I have lived is Misawa Japan. Japan is a beautiful place. When we lived in Japan we had a family portrait taken wearing kimonos, it was the coolest thing. My only regret is that my two youngest children were not born yet and are not in the photo. Today I thought I would share that photo with you. This photo was taken in 1993. I can’t believe it was that long ago. Enjoy.
