Day 2 in Phoenix

I woke up at 5:30am because I couldn’t sleep from all the sneezing and hacking up phlem I was doing. My poor husband. I don’t think he is doing much sleeping either. After all, he is sleeping next to the plague. 🙂

This little three day vacation was our attempt to have a little alone time away from the kids. Which is why we didn’t bring any of them along on this house hunting adventure. Have I mentioned my new nightgown? 🙂 I had to mark “french kissing” off my list of things to do on this vacation. It’s just not going to happen.

Sorry sometimes I ramble a bit. So, I woke my husband up at 07:30am. He showered and we went down to our free breakfast. While at breakfast this little 10 year old kid bumps into my husband about five times before my husband has the chance to fill his plate with a continental breakfast. Drop kicking a strangers child isn’t an option so my husband smiled and sat down at the table beside me. We were hoping the childs wild behavior would continue out by the pool and the child would fall in and receive a good dunking. 🙂 didn’t happen but it was a nice thought.

Our visit to the housing referral office on base was a waste of time. The nice old lady wasn’t allowed to tell us anything except that she had a list of three bedroom houses for rent we could look at. This was nice and all but we have five children, four of those are teenagers, two of those are in college. We can’t fit into a three bedroom house. 🙂 My husband and I asked about crime in certain areas and how are the schools. The lady couldn’t say anything like that because she didn’t want to be sued. She suggested we call the local community desk at the police department.

We went house hunting. The first house was nice, it had a lovely loft with two built in computer desks and room for a big screen tv and a pool table but unfortunately the bedrooms were tiny. The masterbedroom was so little only our bed would have fit into the room but Hey!!! it had a real nice bathroom and walk in closet.

The second and third houses we looked at were nice and big but they were way, way, way out past the industrial park. It was just too far to travel and they weren’t near any shopping of any kind. They were very nice homes though.

The fourth house….First we had to wait in the driveway an hour four the owner to show up. It was a really, really big house, the bedrooms were huge, all the rooms had walk in closests, The masterbedroom, the masterbedroom was grande. 🙂

What was wrong with this house you ask? Nothing! It was in a decent location, near shopping, not too far away from the base, the rent was a hundred dollars more a month than we wanted to pay but we could deal. The problem with this house was the owner. He scared me. He looked like a rap artist(nice gold cross around his neck) but claimed to own a convenience store. He had bought the house for his parents but they decided Phoenix was just too hot. So he rented it out to friends who destroyed the place and disappeared suddenly, then he rented the place out to a single mom, rent free for six months, he was doing her a favor. Here’s the kicker. He had already received a deposit from someone else but he couldn’t get a hold of them. Apparently, they moved from their old address and their phones are now disconnected. He said he has tried to get in touch with them but that they are no where to be found. The house was suppose to be turned over to them last week but they have not showed up. I’m not sure what exactly is going on with that property but I’m thinking renting from that particular person is not a wise decision. Any thoughts on the matter from you guys? Should we notify Judge Judy?
Marsha

PS, heaven help me I still have this head cold.

Day 1 in Pheonix

After arriving in Phoenix yesterday afternoon we moved into our room at the hotel and then went looking for walmart. I was in desparate need of sinus headache medicine. I have a horrible head cold, congestion and a headache. (I swear some higher being is playing with me trying to see how complicated they can make this house hunting adventure.) I look as if I have the plague. Red watery eyes, red nose, hacking cough and I can’t stop sneezing. We didn’t find walmart but we did run into a shopping center with target, barnes and noble, bed and bath, pets smart, best buy, linens and things and about a dozen other stores. We went shopping for sinus medicine at Target (By the way, the Target pharmacist was really nice and helpful. She jumped out from behind that counter the moment she saw the condition I was in and started pointing out the good drugs)

After purchasing my needed drugs we went to eat dinner at a chineese restaraunt. (I don’t think they appreciated me standing over their buffet. Hey, I tried not to sneeze or cough directly over the food. 🙂 )

After dinner we went looking at houses, really the neighborhoods the houses were in. Scoping out areas of interest.
This morning we are going to go to breakfast and then to the base housing office where we hope to learn about areas we should stay away from when looking for a rental. We will also get a list of houses that are for rent that the base recommends as being reliable and safe. I’m hoping my state of health doesn’t sway someone from renting to us. Would you want the plague to move into your neighborhood? 🙂
Marsha

PS: I need a new nose. The one I have is sore.

I’m sick….I need sympathy…and better drugs, the ones I’m using aren’t helping

I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat. I went to work any way. It was a long 12 hours. I didn’t sleep well last night. I think I woke up every hour. I woke up at 0430am this morning feeling absolutely awful. I can’t breath lying down. I called work and told them I couldn’t work today. My poor throat is so swollen, my lips are tingly, and I have a headache….Did I mention I am suppose to go to Phoenix and house hunt on Monday…Everybody pray I feel better by then.

Morgan’s Pledge of Allegiance (Edited)

The United States is filled with people who speak more than one language. I have always found this to be a very cool thing. I tried to learn Japanese when we lived in Japan. I was never very good at it, although I could say a few phrases to get by. My older two daughters and my son, who were small children when we lived there spoke Japanese much better than their MOM.

Morgan learned a great deal in kindergarten. A couple of the things she learned thru out the year was sign language and spanish. Morgan absolutely loved these two classes. I have a great deal of respect for people who can speak more than one language.

I read in the news sometime ago about people wanting to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish. I personally believe it should be said in English but with that said I don’t believe there is anything wrong with knowing how to say it in Spanish. (To clarify my above statement. I think the Pledge should be said in English at major events such as, government meetings, and at the superbowl. Nothing wrong with saying the pledge in Spanish at events where a majority of the people are speaking Spanish.)

Morgan saying The Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish (By the way, there is no way for me to know if she is pronouncing all the words correctly. I pray there isn’t a dirty word in there. 🙂 )

Taylor or Kat

I watched American Idol last night. My personal opinion is that Taylor out sung Kat. I didn’t care for any of the songs that kat sang. I didn’t like her single at all. Of course, her nervousness could have been why it didn’t sound that great.

My fingers are crossed that Taylor wins tonight.  My husband thinks Kat is going to win. Of course, we have a small wager in place.

Cinderella and Prince Charming

For your reading and listening pleasure (while I try to decide if I want to change the title of this blog to “The world according to Morgan” or “All about Morgan” or “Morgan Land” or “I draw therefore I am”) I give to you another story and a podcast by Morgan.
I know I have five children but the other four won’t play with me. 🙂 Apparently when you are between the ages of 12 and 19 it’s not cool to hang around MOM.
This time instead of trying to write down Morgan’s story as she told it to me I decided to have her do a podcast. It was easier to write the story down this way and I didn’t miss any words or sentences. If you click on the following link you will be able to hear Morgan tell her story.
Cinderella and Prince Charming the Podcast

They started to go out to the ball but they had to find the perfect outfits for them.

So Cinderella went to the mall and started looking and Prince charming went to the mall.

But they went to see each other and they saw each other and Prince Charming said the girl’s area is over to the right and Cinderella said the boys one is over there to the left.

So they went (turn the page)

and then their stepsisters started to get ready. One stepsister had a flower and a bracelet on hers the other the other step sister didn’t have any. (turn the page)

And then Cinderella found the perfect outfit. It had a flower, a unicorn and a bracelet on it and their stepsisters where so jealous they went to find a different costume but they never could find any so that had to deal with the one there is. (turn the page)

And then Prince Charming found the perfect outfit. He put the crown on first, and then he put on his shirt, then he put on his pants and then he put on his shoes. Then his pants fell down and nobody noticed. He didn’t know but everybody did notice (turn the page)

And then they went on a date. And Cinderella had a perfect date. And Prince Charming had a perfect date too.

The end

Husbands…Gotta Luv um

This is just a little story that I find somewhat amuzing. I work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, twelve hour shifts. I wake at 5am and leave my house at 6am and get home at 8pm. This enables me to be off MOnday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I wake up at 6am these days. I drink 2 cups of coffee, check my e-mail and occassionally websurf before I have to get the kids up for school. I never get to sleep in…..never, never, never. I wake the kids at 7am.

Because we are moving soon my husband took this week off. He slept in until 1100am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then I started thinking. “Hey, wait a minute. Why is he sleeping in?” After a short discussion, my husband graciously said I could sleep in on Thursday. He would get the kids ready for school. I was thrilled. The thought of sleeping in sounded heavenly.

Thursday morning the alarm clock goes off at 6am and up jumps my husband out of bed. I was astounded. I was so excited I couldn’t go back to sleep. My husband never just jumps out of bed. He is the kind of person who has to hit the snooze button at least three or four times. To make a long story short. My husband gets the kids off to school successfully without my help. I get out of bed at 730, grab a cup of coffee and go to the computer room to check my email. I couldn’t lay in the bed any longer. I wasn’t sleeping anyway. 🙂

The funny part. My husband woke up at 6am the kids didn’t have to get up until 7am. So for an hour my husband sat in the livingroom drinking coffee and watching CNN wishing he was still in bed. 🙂 He was afraid to come back into the bedroom when he realized it was only 6am. He was afraid I would accuse him of procrastinating. Yep! I have all the power.

Do you ever…

Do you ever go thru other peoples links? I do. Sometimes I meet the most interesting people that way. The reason I do this is because if someone has taken the time to put someone in their links list it must be for a good reason. These reasons can vary depending on the blogger. For example, some bloggers collect links of people with similar interest. For example, actors collect other actors links, artist collect other artist links, writers collect other writer links, quilters collect other quilters, Moms collect links of other moms and so on and so on. Some people collect links to see how many they can collect. Some people collect links of people they hate. I never really understood this but hey it’s their links they can collect anyone they wish.

I collect links for a few reasons. The first reason is because I accidently came across a blog that had something that caught my eye and after a thorough read thru I discovered I enjoyed the content. Secondly, I collect links to people that I find facinating in some way. I like to read actor blogs. I have never wanted to be an actor but I do find their lives fascinating. Third reason, if you leave me a comment I place your link over in the sidebar so that other people might stumble upon your site and find you as interesting as I do. Fourth reason, I collect links is because I truly like meeting people from around the world. Find your name in the sidebar. 🙂

Who is in your link list?

I love comments

I played with my comment settings today. I don’t think I have screwed anything up.
If I have approved a comment from you in the past you should be able to post a new comment without my approval. Let me know if this isn’t working.
If you are new to my blog your comments will be held for moderation. It usually doesn’t take long for me to approve a comment. I get an email as soon as someone tries to post.

Of course all spam is tossed in the flames of hell!!!

28 days

I am starting a count down. It helps me put things in perspective.
28 days until Mayflower packs us up and I loose my computer. 🙁
16 days until my last day of work. 🙂
5 school days until the kids are out of school for the summer. 🙂
1 day until we find out who will be the remaining two contestants on American Idol. 🙂

Our Move to Phoenix Arizona

My husband and I have started cleaning out closets and throwing stuff away. I am amazed at how much stuff we manage to accumulate. I have all of my children going thru their things and throwing stuff away that is no longer needed or used. Goodwill is going to make a killing by the time we are finished. The movers will be packing up our things the 13th, 14th and 15th of June. I will not have a computer after that time. This is going to kill me because I am addicted to the internet. I doubt that I wll have any internet access while on vacation in Tennessee. Maybe I can find an internet cafe or a library that has computers.

We will arrive at our new home in Phoenix Arizona sometime around the end of July. Oh well, we have a few more weeks to be together. (I know you are all jumping for joy)

My biggest challenge is going to be finding a new job once we get there. Please let me find a good one. I hate job hunting. My husband never has to job hunt. He is in the military. I don’t think he really understands the stress that job hunting puts on me. Ok..maybe he does. Sometimes I get a bit cranky. 🙂 If anyone has family or friends in or around Phoenix please put in a good word for me. I’m likeable, I work hard. I can learn anything. PS…I have a business degree..My Resume is in the sidebar.

President Bush / Immigration Speech (edited #2)

(I edited this post not “the Speech”) sheeeshh!!..and I think I said no profanity. I know you didn’t leave the profanity here but I don’t appreciate it in my email either. If you had actually read the Presidents speech you would have seen that I did not edit it for my own political agenda. I did not edit the “Speech”.
I enjoyed Pres. Bush speech tonight on immigration. I agree with everything he said. I have copied the entire speech from CNN for those of you who missed it or didn’t understand everything that was said. If you have an opinion leave it here.

I will not debate. Keep it clean. I reserve the right to delete any comment that is inflammatory, uses profanity or any comment that is a personal attack against any one person unable to defend themselves here.

The Butterfly so Beautiful in Life (Edited)

Here is another story illustrated and written by Morgan. Morgan drew the pictures and then sang the story to me as I attempted to write what she was saying singing 🙂 It was a challenge.

butterfly1

This little girl came in a cocoon. Then the cocoon was falling. There was no butterfly in it. It cracked open and there was no butterfly in it. Then the little girl went inside it.

butterfly2

When the little girl was in the cocoon her big sister came. She dyed her hair green. Then she found the cocoon and went inside it like her little sister.

butterfly3

Her little sister turned into a beautiful butterfly with hearts on her wings and then she flew over the city. She was so quiet she couldn’t talk anymore but she could talk but didn’t know it because butterflies are so quiet.

butterfly4

Then her big sister was a purple butterfly with hearts on her wings too like her little sister. Then she flew behind her little sister and said “Hello”. Then her little sister said “Hello” and turned around.

butterfly5

They were flying together. Then they started to hug and then they got warm and continued hugging. Then they got home.

butterfly6

When everyone saw them. Her mom and two sisters saw them so beautiful they could shout. Then they said how beautiful you are.

The End

I am not “OLD”

I was websurfing today and for kicks I typed in Mt Juliet High School class of 1982. (This is my high school and the year I graduated.) And would you believe it, a webpage popped right up with pictures from the 10th and 20 year class reunions. I didn’t go  to these reunions because I lived too far away. This page has lots of pictures of people that did attend the reunion.

These people are old. I am not old. I don’t know what  happened to those people but I did not get old. 🙂

So for your viewing pleasure here is the Mt Juliet High School graduating class of 1982.

Rachel Papo Photographs

I was reading Jon Baas’s blog this morning. He is an actor, an artist and pretty much a jack of all trades. You should check out his resume. He has written a journal entry about a photographer named Rachel Papo. She has photographed Israeli Female Soldiers during their mandatory military service. I really like her photos. So for your viewing pleasure go to http://www.serialno3817131.com/
