Star Trek Baby quilt

I finished making the quiltop this weekend. I will start handquilting in a few days.
This Star Trek–inspired baby quilt top is a modern, graphic celebration of exploration and imagination. Framed by a wide black border, the design features a bold grid of colorful geometric blocks in yellow, teal, turquoise, light blue, blush pink, and charcoal gray. Black sashing between the blocks creates strong contrast and gives the quilt a clean, structured, mid-century modern feel.

At the center of the quilt is a white panel showcasing a black appliquéd silhouette of the USS Enterprise. The simple, iconic shape stands out clearly against the surrounding colors, making it instantly recognizable to Star Trek fans while remaining visually engaging for a child’s space. The layout evokes illuminated panels or windows, subtly echoing a space-age aesthetic.

Designed as a baby quilt that can grow with its recipient, this quilt top blends fandom with timeless modern quilting. It is intended to be lovingly finished as a hand-quilted keepsake—offering warmth, comfort, and a sense of wonder for a new little explorer.

My quilts

Here are some of the quilts I made, that are currently in my possession, inside my house. Some of these belong to my daughter and son that live with me.

Lost in Space quilt

This is my “Lost in Space Quilt.” I designed it myself and painstakingly hand-quilted every stitch.
A handmade, hand-quilted “Lost in Space” themed quilt hangs vertically against a white wall. The quilt features a large circular center resembling a spaceship window, showing a starry black sky, a full moon, and a silver flying saucer. The words “Lost in Space” appear in a retro-style font in pale blue on the left side of the window. Surrounding the circle are playful appliqué figures of astronauts floating in space, classic flying saucers, and four colorful representations of the iconic robot from the original TV series, each in different colors (orange, purple, green, and yellow). Bright patchwork rectangles of orange, green, purple, yellow, white, and black form decorative horizontal bands above and below the circle. The background is primarily deep brown, with quilted diamond patterns throughout the borders. The TikTok handle “@msloftis” is visible in the lower right corner.

Purple Star Trek quilt

Dead world.,I finished with the purple Star Trek quilt about one hour ago. This quilt is handquilted except for the binding. I am gifting this quilt to my coworker having a baby.
