Our Move to Phoenix Arizona

My husband and I have started cleaning out closets and throwing stuff away. I am amazed at how much stuff we manage to accumulate. I have all of my children going thru their things and throwing stuff away that is no longer needed or used. Goodwill is going to make a killing by the time we are finished. The movers will be packing up our things the 13th, 14th and 15th of June. I will not have a computer after that time. This is going to kill me because I am addicted to the internet. I doubt that I wll have any internet access while on vacation in Tennessee. Maybe I can find an internet cafe or a library that has computers.

We will arrive at our new home in Phoenix Arizona sometime around the end of July. Oh well, we have a few more weeks to be together. (I know you are all jumping for joy)

My biggest challenge is going to be finding a new job once we get there. Please let me find a good one. I hate job hunting. My husband never has to job hunt. He is in the military. I don’t think he really understands the stress that job hunting puts on me. Ok..maybe he does. Sometimes I get a bit cranky. 🙂 If anyone has family or friends in or around Phoenix please put in a good word for me. I’m likeable, I work hard. I can learn anything. PS…I have a business degree..My Resume is in the sidebar.

  1. Hello Marsha….
I’d like to thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. Its always a thrill to meet new people, so I appreciate that. I’m pleased you like the pictures of my countryside. I truly feel well blessed that we have such beauty that surrounds us.

I wish you well in your move to Phoenix Arizona. I’ve never been to US, well, that’s apart from a brief put down in B/Main en route to Mexico. You have a vast country, as we flew over I was overwhelmed by its enormity. Little old Britain is quite a small island, but very lovely. I know you’re going to be busy, but when settled, I hope you’ll keep in touch. My good wishes to you and your family for a happy and contended future. Marion

  2. I feel for you Marsha. My sister is an Air Force wife too. She moves a lot…in July she will be moving nearby to Las Vegas Nevada. I hate that she has to leave her beautiful home in Florida, but her husband wants to retire a colonel.
So, you just be safe during your move and update us when you can during that time. With 5 kids I know you will have your hands full!

  3. Tammy: My husband wants to retire as a Senior Master Sargeant, which is why we are moving to Phoenix instead of retiring now. I can survive for another year and a half. : )

  4. Hi Marsha! Good luck with your move to Phoenix. My aunt and her family moved to Arizona years ago with the military. They were then in Nebraska and Maine having come from California and Massachusetts. Enjoy the beautiful scenery!

  5. Hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you and your family during your move, and with the job hunt once you arrive! Take care, and looking forward to reading your blog again once you’ve settled in! Take care!

  6. Good luck on your move to Phoenix, i hope everything goes well, and that you are able to find a job quickly.

  7. I can understand how you might be feeling everytime you move to a new place…… My entire family is from defence either Airforce or Army…. I have moved a lot myself and I always had a mixed feeling of joy and sadness…..

Wish you all the best for your job search……. Have a wonderful vacation and an Happy journey..

Do email me your vacation snaps, even if you dont get time to blog……….

  8. Hi Marsha….I came upon your blog via the link on Tammy’s blog and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts. I’ve just recently started blogging and I’m having so much fun with it. I wish you the very best of luck with your move and I can understand how hard it will be for you without a computer, having to find a job and not knowing anyone at first but I’ve no doubt it will all come together before you know it:-)

  9. Marsha, good luck with the move! Coming from a family of six kids myself, I certainly know how moves like yours can be. Been there. Done that — Many, many times! As far as knowing anyone in Pheonix…. hmm, I know one friend (ex-military as a matter of fact). He’s roughly my age and unmarried. But, hey, he does live in Pheonix! LOL!

    Have a blessed day!

  10. I understand the job hunt!!! I hope things go well for you. It’s sure frusterating to have to find a new job. I work in the public sector and the board (tonight!!) is going to decide whether or not they want to keep my position on the payroll. Fortunately it has nothing to do with my performance, it’s just scary to think that in 6 hours I might not have a job anymore! Yikes!
Best wishes on your move to Phoenix. 🙂 I’m sure you’ll find Internet somewhere. My husband and I don’t have it at home, we always go to a library. Check there. 🙂

  11. I know of another challenge.

The awful summers (which are almost made up for by the delightful winters.

But the good part of all this is you aren’t moving here in February when we have delightful weather.

Why is that good news? Because adjusting to the heat won’t be as difficult. That’s because you’ll already know what it’s like. Therefore it will be less of a shock to your system. 😉

Bu then, some people strangely love it. They are the ones out by (not in, but by) the pool at 3:00 P.M.
