The big truck took all of our stuff away yesterday. Nothing left in this house but a small tv, a laptop computer and eight bedrolls. We will spend the next week cleaning, painting…and eating fast food.
I have a funny story to tell. We had four computers hooked up to the internet. The movers took them all. We decided to hold back one of our laptop computers and take it on vacation with us. This means we (all 8 of us) have to take turns on this one computer. The rule is “The first one awake gets the computer. Computer use for the day is determined by the order in which you woke up in the morning. Everyone gets an hour.”
Yesterday everyone was awake except for “the Morgan” . We tried to get her sleepy little butt out of bed several times. Morgan asked if she could play on the computer after she was awake. I said “No” everyone else was getting a chance first.
The drama queen or as we like to call her “The Morgan” brings forth the tears in an oscar winning performance and announces that it’s not fair because she has a sleeping problem. Not unlike the tearful and pitiful excuses at an Alcoholics Anonamous meeting “the Morgan” continues with her explanation by explaining that her need to stay up late has made it necessary for her to sleep in. My dear beautiful Morgan wanted me to let her cut line and get on the computer early…..I didn’t happen. I made her wait her turn. It pained me but I held my ground and the democratic way of the Loftis family.
Marsha
LOL…poor Morgan!!
I can’t imagine having to wait in line…
😀
Way to go Mom, we will have to make a banner for you. *MOM RULES* (with a kind and loving, but firm hand)
Good for you Marsha. I had a sister who was also an award winning actress. I don’t know how many times I ended up doing her chores for her because her leg hurt. AND then it would repair itself to usefulness the minute my parents walked in the door.

Thanks for stopping aty my blog. I have not written anything in so long I figured no one would stumble by (except my brother). I have been so busy with school winding down. I got caught up reading about you and love your new house in Phoenix. I really hope you will like it there and that you’ll find a job real soon. Your little now first grader is a cutie pie. That is the age I am an aide for. But good for you in sticking to the rules. It is parents like you that us education people love because we know they will behave in the classroom. I am going to try to keep my blog up to date over the summer.
Tammy: don’t let the morgan’s cuteness draw you to the dark side. Just kiddin, she is adorable and is good about 95% of the time.
Keewee: I have the power!!!
Cynthia: My parents used to put me in charge and say things like this house better be cleaned up by the time we get back home. My siblings would all disappear until my parents came home. I was left cleaning up alone.
Irene: thanks for stopping by. all of my children have behaved while in school. I don’t know why. Morgan loves school. she has already been preparing for the first grade. She loves homework books, especially math.
The reason your children have behaved in school is because of their home situation. Parents who are consistant at home have children who do good in school academically and socially. I can tell Morgan is ready just by her drawings and stories. And to already show an ability in math is icing on the cake!
That is one for the books! lol
I remember when my Mel was about 2yrs., her dad was making a new rule that they carry their plates back into the kitchen after eating. Daniel took his through no problem but Dad had to re-address Melissa as she just stood on the spot holding her half filled plate. “Melissa, take your plate to the kitchen!” She looked straight at him, eye to eye, and then suddenly dropped the plate!!!! Her dad was so angry and yelled, “Melissa!!!!”.
Keeping her face straight and never looking down at the plate , she said, “But it was tooooooooo heavy.” Her timing was brilliant and we could hardly keep our faces straight.
Mel has always been a match for her father- they are too alike. 🙂
l probably did not write this well but as you know with kids , it’s just one of those you don’t forget. 🙂
Irene: Morgan does about ten math pages a day out of her Kumon math book. She loves this stuff.
Horizon: my youngest sister did something like that when she was small. I absolutely love hearing about stories of defiance from small children. 🙂
Kumon is great. We had a boy in the class this year that did that program and he excelled in math.
