This is a newspaper clipping. The picture is rather large. Sorry about that but I am unable to shrink it at the moment. YOu will need to read the caption at the bottom of the picture to understand what is going on.
Air Force Chief Master Sgt John Gebhardt of the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group at Balad, Iraq, cradles a young girl as they both sleep in the hospital. The girls entire family was executed by insurgents. The killers shot her in the head as well. the girl received treatment at the US Military Hospital in Balad, but cries and moans often. According to nurses at the facility Gebhardt is the only one who can calm down the girl, so he has spent the last several nights holding her while they both slept in a chair.

Now that is what I call a “hero”!!
Bless her little heart!!!!
Thanks for visiting my blog. We have somewhat of a similar background-well, a couple things nearly in common.
Just heartbreaking.
I am happy Sgt John Gebhardt was there to comfort the little one.

Thank you for adding this to your website. My husband sent this article to me from Iraq (via snail mail). He had told me about it on the phone and it so warmed my heart! I just got the article today and as I read it to our 9yr old son, I started crying! Life’s embrace … priceless! I wish more people could hear about this story! Thank you again for including it on your website!
