This guy is on my tomato plant this morning.
That is a tomato #hornworm (Manduca quinquemaculata) or a very close hornworm relative. The big green body, diagonal pale markings along the sides, and the little “horn” at the rear are classic hornworm features.
But the really interesting part is all those white rice-looking things. Those are parasitoid wasp cocoons, most likely from a #braconidwasp. 😳 The wasp larvae developed inside the caterpillar, emerged, and spun those little white cocoons on its body.
